Public Transport in Dublin

We are greatly looking forward to welcoming all the delegates to Dublin next week. A number of you may be staying outside the City Centre and reliant on public transport for access to TCD. Unfortunately due to an industrial dispute, there is a potential for some public transport disruption on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th September, when Dublin Bus are due to have a 48 hour work stoppage. If you were going to be reliant on bus transport within the city on either of those days, it would be best to explore alternative methods of getting to the venue. The other public transport options will not be impacted by the strike and may offer an alternative.Details are provided below.

The DART rail service serves both sides of the city on a mainly coastal route, you can access the timetable here:

A map of the DART services is available here:

The LUAS light rail (Tram) system is another option and you can access the timetable here:

A map of the stations the LUAS serves is here:

And finally, Dublin Bus will be operation for the Thursday and Sunday of the Conference. Please be aware that Sunday service times are different for the majority of Dublin public transport options. You can access the Dublin Bus routeplanner here:

A wide range of taxi services are also available, and the City Centre is well served with taxi ranks which you can queue for. To take taxis into the City Centre you will likely have to book one in advance, which your Hotel will usually be happy to do for you. Alternatively, you can do so via sites such as the NRC Taxi site here:
